COMMUNICATION CHALLENGES IN A HYBRID WORKPLACE

This course will help participants maintain strong communication connections in any work environment. Participants will address the challenges of workplace changes, and will develop communication strategies to meet them.

Objectives:

 

  • Recognize the barriers to communication when working in different locations.
  • Understand the effects of isolation and time changes on work relationships.
  • Develop guides and processes for using a variety of communication methods.
  • Adjust communication style to accommodate schedules and needs of others.
  • Learn to incorporate monitoring and follow-up in communication exchanges.

HOLDING YOUR OWN: CAREER DEVELOPMENT IN A CHANGING WORKPLACE

This course will help participants maintain and expand their career development in spite of workplace location changes. Participants will learn how to better position themselves for recognition and opportunity.

Objectives:

 

  • Update and organize career status, achievements, skills, and goals.
  • Recognize opportunities for self-promotion.
  • Identify individuals to include in network.
  • Learn the importance of taking initiative and using assertiveness skills.
  • Develop an action plan that accommodates the constraints of the workplace.

MANAGING A SCATTERED WORKFORCE

This course will help managers and supervisors better work with and engage employees who may be in different locations. Participants will learn to adapt management skills to new requirements.

Objectives:

 

  • Understand the importance of knowing the needs, skills, concerns of all employees.
  • Establish and share consistent, clear guides and expectations.
  • Develop processes for task management that include frequent communication and feedback.
  • Develop opportunities for relationship building and interacting.
  • Learn communication strategies that encourage and motivate.

VIRTUAL MEETINGS AND FACILITATIONS

This course will help participants plan, conduct, and participate effectively in virtual meetings. Participants will learn tips for adjusting meeting protocols to the constraints of working in different locations.

Objectives:

 

  • Review elements of successful meetings and consider adaptations to different settings.
  • Understand the importance of pre-meeting preparation.
  • Develop methods of ensuring participant engagement and understanding.
  • Learn technical considerations that affect meetings.
  • Adapt plans for closure, review, and follow-up.

VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS

This course will help participants deliver presentations when some or all audience members are attending virtually. Participants will learn to adjust their presentation content and delivery, and to be mindful of technical restraints.

Objectives:

 

  • Consider the challenges of giving virtual presentations.
  • Understand the importance of audience analysis and audience inclusion.
  • Develop methods of content organization that fit presentation goals and time.
  • Consider visual elements including setting and movement.
  • Become familiar with technical requirements.

WORKING WITH HYBRID TEAMS

This course will help participants work with and manage teams whose members work both in-person at the workplace, and remotely. Participants will learn to anticipate problem situations, and will develop strategies for motivating and encouraging others.

Objectives:

 

  • Identify goals and purpose of the team.
  • Determine necessary adjustments to allow for different locations and schedules of team members.
  • Address potential issues of proximity bias, divisiveness, and isolation.
  • Develop systems to ensure collaboration, interaction, and relationship building.
  • Consider how to position oneself in a hybrid team.
